SHELLY
I must say that i absolutly love your strip! when i found it online about a year ago i went back in the archives and read them all…lol. eve and manny remind me so much of me and my husband, with there sarcastic humor but undying love, and we too have an autistic child. my daughter is 11 and though she’s not a severe as your son is, we definatly have our struggles. i found this poem and thought that you would definatly appreciate the sentiment:
HEAVEN’S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
A meeting was held quite far from Earth:
“It’s time again for another birth.”
Said the Angels to the Lord Above,
“This special child will need much love.”
His progress may seem very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show
And he’ll require extra care
From folks he meets way down there.
He may not run or laugh or play
His thoughts may seem quite far away:
In many ways he isn’t adapt
And he’ll be known as handicapped.
So let’s be careful where he’s sent
We want his life to be content.
Please, Lord, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they’re asked to play
But with this child sent from above
Comes a stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for the Gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge,
so meek and mild
Is Heaven’s Very Special Child.

I love the strip, but when I go to the archives to see on I miss, they don’t fit all the way on the page and the last panel gets cut off. Does anyone else have this problem?

Shann, you have to click on the strip, it will open it up in small form, then double click the strip again and it will open up in full and in a readable size. Also, Karen, don’t know if you read these comments regularly, but on the middle comic that you blogged about cutting the punchline from, you could do a panel with Eve extending her arm, stopping the view at the wrist, and Manny saying off panel something to the effect of “Now THAT’S a bad finger.” It’s not “dirty” and only hints at a vulgarity. That’s the direction I would go in that situation.

Thanks Harley H! It didn’t even occur to me to click on the comic strip. 🙂
