After my last dog, I swore off puppies forever. We got her when she was 4 years old and fully trained. It was wonderful. I will never own a puppy ever again. I think if I'm able to move somewhere with some land I'd like to start a rescue for older dogs. I hate going to the pound and seeing these 12 year old dogs that should be lounging in a recliner on their owners afghan. I think everyone wants a puppy so they go quicker. Older dogs don't have much of a chance to get out of the pounds

Once when I was little my father and I went to a cattle sale to drop off some calves (we had a dairy farm) we came home with a box of rabbits. His excuse was he thought he had bought one but found out that the price was for all four. So I had three mini rex's and a mini lop growing up. One was full grown when we got them so he went into his own cage. The three "females" went into another cage. After my mini lop had babies they all went into their own cages :) Rabbits are great pets, and while I have had rabbit that was raise for meat the wild ones taste better.

Why yes, I HAVE heard the story of the cat given a bath at midnight in the dark during a hurricane! It was a good one!!! I can't imagine why you don't want to repeat the experience. Wimp. ;)

I can't wait to hear what these new pets get named. I say you do NOT let your hubby get a vote! ROTFL

A small pet carrier will do for a rabbit cage and easy evacuation in emergency circumstances, though you'll want something larger (with drop-through to collect the guano for the garden- rabbit dung is excellent fertilizer) for day-to-day living.

I take it then you aren't going to use this to teach the kids the cycle of life and how good rabbit stew tastes....though, depending on the age of the daughter, check with your local 4-H club and extension office. Show rabbits is a good way to teach responsibility, and let's face it, they *are* raised as meat animals.

You are such a nut! The puppy thing is what has kept us from getting a dog all these years - it's just so much work! And then they die (sorry - my husband is kind of fixated on the END result because of all the dogs he had growing up - doesn't want to face that again).

Quick Question: When are you going to make your book available for sale again? Even if its available through a print on demand feature, I would like to be able to add it to my library's collection.

Thank you,
