For my readers from the USA, If you wouldn’t mind, would you please comment to this post with what your gas prices were (the lowest you could find) yesterday, along with the highest you remember them getting, and approximately where you are in this country? I’m interested to find out how low they got and how fast they rise again (IF they rise at all. I could be completely wrong).
I will start. Our lowest was $2.25. Florida Keys. The highest I remember it getting was about $4.40 a gallon back in the summer.
Thanks.

I live in Nebraska, and I saw $1.99 at the pumps yesterday. Over the river in Iowa, I heard it was $1.92 (it’s always cheaper over there). I remember paying $4 a gallon not too long ago. It might have been higher, but I think I’ve blocked out the trauma.
BTW, I was bereft when Clear Blue Water stopped running on Yahoo Comics. I started reading it almost four years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter. And Eve was pregnant with the twins! There were lots of other little coincidences, and I really grew to love your crazy little family.
Thanks for making my world a little brighter.

Hillsboro, OR Costco $2.19, I’ll repost on Friday and let you know if that has reversed. I suspect, however, that more than the election is governing gas prices right now- the free fall price for a barrel of oil is a big deal.

Can I just say how jealous I am that some of you never had to pay over 4 and you are under 2 bucks now? Bleagh. Ted, I think you are right about there being more factors at play here than just the election this time.
Jonathan, I don’t know if gas will go back up or not. That was my hypothesis, so we’ll just have to watch and see…
Thanks to everyone for helping me out on this little project. I appreciate it!

1.92 in Virginia Beach, VA. We never did get to the $4 mark, we hoverd around 3.90 though.
I hope the gas prices will stay under $3. It really makes me angry that they can offer lower prices now, because like you, I feel it was an election-ploy. But instead of me thinking “wow, what great guys you are,” it makes me think “what, what jerks you guys are!” They could have had the prices at this rate all along and mayby not made an extra billion dollar profit added to thier billions already!

Bound Brook NJ is currently at $2.43/gal for regular. The highest we got to was about $4.85. Where my daughter lives, in West Haven, CT, the highs were around $5.30 a gallon. Fuel oil actually worries me more – we just got a delivery at $3.27/gal. I can live without driving, but heat here in the northeast is a must-have!

It’s supposed to be the national average for soldiers serving over here in Germany, when we buy it on post. Right now, it’s 2.874 and at it’s highest, it was around 4.50 a gallon. I don’t remember the actual amount, unfortunately. Our gas prices change every Saturday, so hopefully this weekend, it goes down again.. Granted, it’s always been cheaper than buying it on the economy. After figuring out how much their euro/liter changes to dollar/gallon, it averages about 8 dollars for a gallon of gas. Yeesh.

Atlanta 2.14 on election day. I’m not sure the highest, but hurricane Ike closed down a lot of pumps here for a couple of weeks.

Still going down. Costco’s now down to $1.99 here in Hillsboro. This from a high of $4.25 last summer.
I suspect it will go down until it becomes actually *affordable* again.

It’s 2.30 in Midland, Tx right now and has been as high as 4.09.
We drill and produce ALOT of the oil and gas right here in our own back yard, yet we don’t get to enjoy the low prices that some do!!
I dont understand why when it isn’t being shipped to us from across the country!
Just goes to show, there is no rhyme or reason to any of this mess!!

I paid $1.76/gal on Tuesday night in Cincinnati, Ohio. The highest I remember it going was over the summer, about $4.09/gal.

At CostCo, we paid an all time low of $2.60 yesterday! (It’s $3.15 everywhere else in town.) I think the highest we paid was $4.12 — at CostCo … I don’t remember how bad it was at the regular stations! (We’re in Honolulu, HI.)
